Dear Friends & Fans,

August will be awesome for many reasons including:

1: we are going on TOUR!!!!! Thanks Fans! Thanks FPE Records! Thanks World! Thanks Universe! Thanks Zebra! Thanks Tiger!
2: we LOVE hearing new music and wrapping our brains around new sonic territory (Dear USA bring us your best, your weirdest!!)
3. we are going to be giving a portion of our tour proceeds to NAMI. NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. Our own families have felt the impact of mental illness, and we know that the greater artist/musician family experiences it too. Since we feel strongly that mental health awareness and support enriches lives and reduces the stigma of mental illness, we are thrilled to contribute to NAMI's mission.

It has been hard to articulate the gratitude we feel for the love shown to us while we're on tour. Every show-goer who sticks around for our set, every dollar offered to help us with gas or exchange for a glow-in-the-dark Zigtebra pin, every compliment, every constructive criticism, every late-night discussion, every couch to sleep on, every fleeting or lasting friendship, every meal shared, every second spent by the band or booker building up an awesome lineup, every bit of honesty, every bit of heart.... We feel so so grateful and we wanted to Pay It Forward. This time we want it to take that love and kindness and use what we can of it to help bring more comfort, awareness, and peace to a community that is often afraid and feeling alone. No one is alone!

Reasons why NAMI is awesome:
-NAMI started in 1979 as a group of families around a kitchen table and they have grown into the nation's leading voice on mental health. Today they are an association of hundreds of local affiliates, state organizations, and volunteers who work in communities to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need.
-NAMI educates: Offered in thousands of communities across America through NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates, their education programs ensure hundreds of thousands of families, individuals and educators get the support and information they need.
-NAMI advocates. NAMI shapes the national public policy landscape for people with mental illness and their families and provides grassroots volunteer leaders with the tools, resources and skills necessary to save mental health in all states.
-NAMI listens. Their toll-free NAMI HelpLine allows them to respond personally to hundreds of thousands of requests each year, providing free referral, information and support—a much-needed lifeline for many.
-NAMI leads public awareness events and activities, including Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW), NAMIWalks and other efforts, successfully combat stigma and encourage understanding. NAMI works with reporters on a daily basis to make sure our country understands how important mental health is. - See more here.
-NAMI is BBB accredited and has excellent ratings on Charity Watch!

The mind hosts a beautiful spectrum that we celebrate and we are glad there are organizations doing good work to reduce the stigma of the darker side, while also providing support for individuals and families experiencing a difficult journey. Once tour is done, we'll be transparent with what we are donating and hopefully we'll have shared info about NAMI's resources with anyone who might benefit from them. This tour is totally about the music, but if we can do something good while doing our favorite thing in the world, well we just gotta!!!
